Zufuhrstrasse 12 is circled in red. At little to the north, it joins the ring street at Frauentorgraben just east (in the picture right) of the Spittlertor gate tower, which can be seen at the upper side of the picture. To the south (at the lower side of the picture) the Zufuhrstrasse ends at the Kohlenhofstrasse, with the tracks of the former freight depot below.

Biography

On 27. November 2024, Gunther Demnig laid four stumbling stones for David, Hermine, Werner and Edgar Klugmann. David and Hermine’s granddaughter Deborah was sponsor. The Klugmann family fled to London and the USA.

David Klugmann was born on 10 February 1892 in Kitzingen. His parents were Ignatz and Frieda (née Feuchtwangen) Klugmann. David trained as a business man and was a wine wholesaler. On 14 May 1919, he married Hermine Saalheimer, who was born on 16 May 1898 as the daughter of Michael and Sidonie Saalheimer in Bamberg. In Nurnberg, the couple first lived in Essenweinstrasse. In this time, they had two children: Werner Ignatz, born on 29 February 1920 in Fürth, and Edgar Sigfried, born on 13 September 1925 in Nuremberg. On 21 September 1932, the family moved to Zufuhrstraße 12.

Edgar fled on 24 August 1939 to London. David, Hermine and Werner Ignatz moved to the USA on 28 February 1940.
