On 27 November 2024, stumbling stones were laid for Hermann, Else and Hans Dirnbach. Klaus Maier-Rubner, member of the Initiative Stolperstein Göppingen initiated the laying of the stones. Maier-Rubner wrote the biographies of the Jewish inmates of Schloss Weißenstein, where Sigmunde Friedmann, Else Dirnbach’s mother was forced to live. Sigmunde Friedmann died in Theresienstadt concentration camp. Her daughter Else and Else’s husband Hermann and son Hans were deported from Zagreb, Croatia and murdered.
Dr. Hermann Dirnbach was born on 22 March 1887 in Pozega, Slovenia. He was the son of Eduard and Babette (née Kleemann) Dirnbach. He served as the head of a bank.
His wife Else was born on 17 April 1897 in Stuttgart as the daughter of Albert and Sigmunde (née Schweizer) Friedmann. The Dirnbachs married on 6 June 1920; the location is not noted in their record.
Although the couple did not officially move to Nuremberg until 11 June 1924, their son Hans was born nearby in Fürth on 2 July 1921. In Nuremberg, the family lived at Wielandstrasse 4.
On 1 July 1934, the Dirnbach family moved to Zagreb, Croatia. From there Hermann and Hans were deported to the Jasenovac Concentration Camp and Else to the Dakovo Concentration Camp, where they were murdered.
