Anna Kohn was born on 1 April 1876 in Pforzheim near Karlsruhe in Baden-Württemberg, as Anna Sinauer. She was the daughter of Max Sinauer and Henrietta, née Veith.

On 14 June 1897, she married Ferdinand Kohn in Karlsruhe. Kohn was born on 28 March 1862 in Maineck (Altenkunstadt) near Lichtenfels, as the son of Wolf and Luise Kohn, née Steingässer.

Kohn was a “Councilor of Commerce” (“Kommerzienrat”) and in 1895 a co-founder of the company “Nürnberger Metall- und Lackierwarenfabrik, vorm. Gebrüder Bing, Aktiengesellschaft in Nürnberg”, considered for a time to be the largest toy factory in the world. He was a member of the board of directors until 1918, as he withdrew from business to return to private life.

Ferdinand and Anna had three children: Walter, born on 4 April 1898, Robert, born on 13 February 1900, and Hildegard, born on 30 May 1902. The family moved into the house at Prinzregentenufer 13 in September 1914.

Ferdinand died on 22 August 1926. Anna fled to Palestine in 1938.
