Dr. Naphtali Norbert Lebermann was born on 31 October 1872 in Würzburg. His parents were Moritz and Jette Lebermann, née Braunschweig.
Naphtali studied new philology at the universities of Munich and Würzburg. From 1896 he was a teacher at the royal secondary school (königliche Realschule) in Bad Kissingen and later at the royal secondary school in Nuremberg. Naphtali wrote his own fairy tales: In 1927, a collection of them was published with the title “Blue Blooms Tales-Wonders-Magic.”
On 13 August 1900, he married Bertha Schloß in Speyer. She was born on 2 February 1876 in Linz in Upper Austria, as the daughter of Heinrich and Henriette Schloß, née Fränkel.
Norbert and Bertha had three children: Ernst Ludwig, born on 3 September 1901, Kurt, born on 24 November 1902, and Gertrud Liese, born on 13 May 1907. The family moved in 1902 to Friedrichstrasse 52.
Ernst died as a child on 9 December 1904.
Kurt was educated in trade. On 4 October 1928, he married Karolina Bergmann. She was born on 11 July 1905 in Hamburg, as the daughter of Emil Bergmann and his wife Fanny, née Jacobsohn. As an oversea agent, Kurt moved from 1927 back and forth between Buenos Aires and Nuremberg. At the beginning of 1933, he remained with his wife in Argentina.
Gertrud was a dentist. On 13 June 1932, she married Dr. Friedrich Wilhelm Lippert, who was also a dentist. They were divorced on 30 September 1933. On 9 May 1934, she married the writer Dr. Jean Paul Keins. He was born on 16 August 1909 in Berlin, as the son of Salo Keins and his wife Elvira, née Olschki. In 1935, Gertrud and her husband fled via France and Spain to Argentina.
On 1 September 1933, Norbert was forced to retire. Bertha died on 9 December 1933. In 1937, Norbert also fled to Argentina.
